Luke Falk (QB/Washington State) continues to have snap issues. Jaleel Scott (WR/New Mexico State) continues to impress me with his footwork. One rep today perfectly capsulized the comparison between Baker Mayfield (QB/Oklahoma) and Josh Allen (QB/Wyoming). When they were side-by-side, throwing the same route, Allen sailed his about 3 feet over his receiver while Mayfield was on point. Florida CB Duke Dawson returned to practice today after an illness kept him out yesterday. During 7-on-7 Tanner Lee (QB/Nebraska) was picked off by North Dakota State LB Nick DeLuca. During the full team portion of practice, Oklahoma FB Dimitri Flowers had a fumble. Christian Campbell (CB/Penn State) picked off a Tanner Lee pass that he underthrew to Michael Gallup (WR/Colorado State). Ogbo Okoronkwo (EDGE/Oklahoma) beat Oregon OT Tyrell Crosby for what would have been a sack if you could hit the QB. Armani Watts (DS/Texas A&M) crashed the hole and hit Akrum Wadley (RB/Iowa) for a loss. Josh Allen was poor on back-to-back passes.

Tyrell Crosby was the best offensive lineman on the North team today. He absolutely buried Jalyn Holmes (DL/Ohio State) in one rep. He also won against TyQuan Lewis (EDGE/Ohio State) and Wisconsin EDGE Garret Dooley (twice). UTEP OG Will Hernandez continued his good week with good reps against Nathan Shepherd (DL/Fort Hays State), Jalyn Holmes, and Justin Jones (DL/NC State). Unfortunately for Shepherd, he broke a bone in his wrist at some point after this and will miss the rest of the week. Both Ohio State players Holmes and Lewis were handled with regularity in this drill. Brett Toth (OT/Army) has a ton of initial success in his reps, but the longer it goes, the worse his rep gets. Rutgers EDGE Kemoko Turay showed some tremendous bend getting around Pitt OT Brian O'Neill (twice) and Brett Toth. O'Neill struggled today in multiple reps. Stanford DL Harrison Phillips abused both center prospects Mason Cole (Michigan) and Scott Quessenberry (UCLA). The worst player I saw today was Cole Madison (OG/Washington State). The next rep he wins will be the first. Madison was constantly on skates.

Western Michigan CB Darius Phillips (ankle) and Miami-FL EDGE Chad Thomas (groin) are both likely out for the rest of the week.

North team practice will resume at 12:30 pm tomorrow.

In the full team portion of practice, Southern Cal EDGE Uchenna Nwosu beat Brandon Parker (OT/North Carolina A&T) around the edge during one rep and then carried Indiana TE Ian Thomas downfield in another. Virginia QB Kurt Benkert would have given his WR a one-way ticket to the concussion protocol if this would have been a normal game situation with a throw he made over the middle. Mike White (QB/Western Michigan) hit a TD pass to a wide-open Jordan Akins (TE/UCF) on a corner route. They followed that later in the red zone drill with a slick one-handed grab over Virginia DS Quin Blanding. San Diego State RB Rashaad Penny got blew up by Tray Matthews (DS/Auburn) and put the ball on the turf for the second day in a row. UCF LB Shaquem Griffin was lining up all over on defense including at safety in a single-high formation. In the red zone drill, Clemson LB Dorian O'Daniel continued his good week with a nice fill in the hole for a tackle-for-loss. Richmond QB Kyle Lauletta hit Marcel Ateman (WR/Oklahoma State) on a slant for a TD, beating D'Montre Wade (CB/Murray State). Tre'Quan Smith (WR/UCF) beat Wade in the back of the end zone. Darius Leonard (LB/South Carolina State) diagnosed a pass in the flat to Southern Miss RB Ito Smith quickly and pulverized him.

Isaiah Wynn (OG/Georgia) was the best offensive lineman for the South team today. He seems to have taken to moving inside well. Wynn handled Andrew Brown (DL/Virginia), Christian LaCouture (DL/LSU), Da'Shawn Hand (DL/Alabama), and Greg Gilmore (DL/LSU) in different reps. Da'Shawn Hand was one of the better defensive linemen of the day. He got the best of Austin Corbett (OG/Nevada) and Taylor Hearn (OG/Clemson). It was not a good day for the LSU defensive linemen LaCouture and Gilmore. Bradley Bozeman (OC/Alabama) handled them both on more than one occasion. Joe Noteboom (OT/TCU) did a good job against the speedier edge guys like Marquis Haynes (Mississippi) and Uchenna Nwosu. The player who received a lot of hype at the beginning of the week that hasn't really lived up to it yet is Marcus Davenport of UTSA. He just hasn't found the right way to utilize his talents. He got stoned in reps against Noteboom, Colby Gossett (OG/Appalachian State), and Brandon Parker. Alex Cappa (OT/Humboldt State) continues to play with a beautiful violence. He just needs more consistency.

It was announced before practice that Virginia LB Micah Kiser will miss the rest of the week with a knee sprain. Vanderbilt LB Oren Burks will take his place on Thursday. Western Kentucky TE Deon Yelder was added to the roster today to replace Dallas Goedert (TE/South Dakota State) and Adam Breneman (TE/UMASS) who both injured their respective hamstrings yesterday.

The South team will be back at practice at 3 pm tomorrow.

You remember that Chamber of Commerce type of day in Mobile for the first day of practice? Today was not that day for the 2018 Reese's Senior Bowl. It was overcast, blustery, and after the North practice, it got downright chilly. Today was the first day of practice in full pads. I always like to concentrate on the offensive line and defensive lines on this day of practice.

Game director Phil Savage informed everyone that five additional players were scratched for injury: Darren Carrington (WR/Utah), Harold Landry (EDGE/Boston College), Skai Moore (LB/South Carolina), Chukwuma Okorafor (OT/Western Michigan) and Javon Wims (WR/Georgia). Nick Chubb and Sony Michel (RB's/Georgia) decided to skip the Senior Bowl.
