DEEP FRIED DRAFT

Round 2/Pick 58
The Pick: Taylor Rapp, S, Washington

Rapp is a rangy safety that is a plug-and-play starter for the Cowboys defense. Rapp can cover tight ends. He will also drop the hammer when necessary. I could also see Dallas going with a tight end or edge rusher here if the value is right.

Round 3/Pick 90
The Pick: Khalen Saunders, DL, Western Illinois

Saunders is an athletic specimen. He is capable of doing backflips and is a pretty damn good interior pass rusher as well. Saunders stayed at the Senior Bowl despite his girlfriend giving birth to his first child. That is some dedication to your craft. With David Irving probably getting suspended again, Saunders fills an immediate need.

Round 4/Pick 128
The Pick: Drew Sample, TE, Washington

Sample is probably going to be a solid number two tight end for a long time in the NFL. He is a good athlete, he catches well, and he blocks well. Sample isn’t great at any of these things. He can contribute early for Dallas.

Round 4/Pick 136
The Pick: David Sills, WR, West Virginia

Sills was a production monster at West Virginia. Sills ranks high in FBS for receiving touchdowns scored over the last two years. I believe his athletic testing is going to push him down into this range. However, to get a redzone threat like Sills in round four is a great value.

THE REST OF THE PICKS:

5/165: Roheem Bingham, EDGE, Arkansas State
7/241: Connor McGovern, G, Penn State

The Dallas Cowboys made their return to the NFL Playoffs in 2018. In all likelihood, this bought Jason Garrett another year. The fortunes of America’s Team seemed to change upon the acquisition of WR Amari Cooper. The Cooper trade cost Dallas their first-round pick. However, without him, they likely would not have made the playoffs.

Dallas will have to make it without picking until late in the second.

Today, I will go through all seven rounds of a mock draft to see if I can make the Dallas Cowboys a better team. I will use my own big board, with User-Votes team needs, and the difficult setting at the draft simulator site
Fanspeak. You all can do the same.
