DEEP FRIED DRAFT
Career Stats: N/A
Today we are going to look at a player that is not widely talked about. Alan Knott joined the Gamecocks as a three-star recruit from Sandy Creek HS (Tyrone, GA). He redshirted his first year on campus before playing in all thirteen games as a redshirt freshman, starting eight. Knott made nine starts as a sophomore. He missed a few games with a high ankle sprain. Knott followed that by starting the next 25 straight games. As a senior, he was the only Carolina offensive lineman to start at the same spot for every game.
2016: Missouri, Tennessee
2017: NC State, Georgia, Clemson
DFD COOKBOOK RECIPE
Knott plays off-balance way too often. He can get overpowered by the bigger defensive tackles.
Knott is an athletic center. He is able to pull quickly and get to the second level. Knott has above-average velocity on his shotgun snaps. He is technically sound with his hand usage. Knott is very experienced, with over forty starts.
Alan Knott has a ton of experience, playing one of the toughest positions, in one of the toughest conferences. His lack of power shows up times and he does have some footwork issues to clean up. If Knott can correct his faults, he could find his way onto a 53-man roster as a three-position interior line backup. Knott will likely at best be a 7th-round pick, but probably going to be a priority free agent.
