DEEP FRIED DRAFT
Career Stats: N/A
Today we are going to look at another offensive tackle in the 2018 draft. Jamarco Jones chose the Buckeyes over Michigan State after a high school career at De La Salle HS in Chicago. He was a four-star prospect. Jones saw time as a reserve his first two seasons in Columbus. As a junior, he became the starter at left tackle, where he started the next 27 games.
2017: Maryland, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin
Jones is an aggressive blocker with a nasty demeanor. He has nice arm length at 35 inches. Jones is a very good run blocker and a good pass blocker. In the five games I watched, he allowed a few pressures but allowed zero sacks. Jones uses his hands nicely to keep pass rushers at bay.
Jamarco Jones will probably make a perfectly fine offensive tackle at the next level. He isn’t a can’t miss prospect by any means. Jones is a good blocker but not great. He has a few flaws in his fundamentals. I think Jones should be drafted in the mid-to-late second round, but I expect him to go higher than due to a dearth of tackle prospects.
Jones got beat with an inside move several times. He performed poorly in the explosion and agility tests at the Combine. This shows up on the tape when you watch, especially when he tries to pull.
